Best (Non-Ski Trip) Weekend Ever!

This was such a great weekend! To start off Friday night Jon, Phil and I went to the High Life Lounge to celebrate St Patty's Day and watch UK play UAB. It was a great atmosphere to celebrate the Beer Holiday and the UK victory.

Bonnie met up with us for a while on Friday night.

Things got even better on Saturday. As many of you know, I was trying to plan a gathering for Saturday night to celebrate Jon's birthday. Jana responded to the e-mail I sent out and said that she would try to come into town. When I talked to her Saturday morning she was still trying to decide if she could make it. Eventually, she sent me a text message saying she wasn't coming. I told her that was fine and I would try to see her next weekend in Huntington. At about 6pm she called. Here is how the conversation went:

Jana: Hey, are you mad that I'm not coming?
Amber: No, of course not.
Jana: Well I'm getting off the exit at Man-O-War right now! Ha Ha! I'm in Lexington!
Amber: You jerk! Are you really here?
Jana: Yes! I'll be there in a minute!
Amber: Okay! Bye!

Then I ran and told Jon the good news. He was asleep on the couch and I came shouting, "Jana's coming! Jana's coming! Jana's coming!" He grunted, rolled over, and went back to sleep.

Myself, Jana, Teran, Brett, Megan, Jon, and Phil started the night off at the bowling alley. Of course, we had to use funny names for the scoring. I'm going to list the names, maybe you can guess who was who.
  • Boo Mother F'ers Boo
  • Booty Booty Booty
  • Terandatassup
  • Darkness Mother F'er
  • PHD
  • Ai yai yai
  • Chew on That
  • I hate Atlanta

We were very camera-happy Saturday night. Here are some pics from the bowling alley:

Jon and Phil know this guy and apparently his girlfriend is Miss Kentucky. Phil had to get a picture with her.

Janer & PHD

Amberrrr & JC

I thought that the 11th Frame (the bar at the bowling alley) had karaoke on Saturday nights, but it turns out I was wrong. We were all amped for some singin so we decided to head to Squires Tavern. Matt, Jeremy and Brad met up with us at the bar. I had never been to Squires. I was pleased to find out that it is very close to our house. So, of course, shots were a must for the evening. We all sang and drank and had a great time. I unknowingly deleted a good picture I had of Jeremy singing. If I still had it the caption would have been, "JD's the fireman, that's his name." Oh well, here are some of the pictures I didn't delete.

Way to order those shots, Jana!

Amber, Jana & Teran

Phil's diggin up bones. Please, no pictures.

This couple grossed us out all night. And yes, we took pictures.

Teran, Jana, Amber & Jon

Jana and I decided that we are soul mates. Jon looks jealous.

Matt & Amber

Amber & Teran (I told you we were camera-happy)

Megan, as usual, impresses us with her talent.

I think Matt was a little lonely without Kara.

The best part of the night was brought to us by Matt. The karaoke guy announced that the next up to sing was a random person named Timmy. Matt began yelling, "Timmaaay! Timmaaay!" Timmy is the character from South Park in the wheelchair, in case anybody doesn't get it. He kept yelling it and we all kept laughing. Then, out of nowhere, this guy in a wheelchair goes rolling past Matt. For all of us drunken fools, it was hilarious. Matt was so embarrassed, I think he wanted to crawl under the table. Later, Matt went to the other side of the bar to smoke. This is where the wheelchair guy got his revenge. He rolled over Matt's toes! It was all very funny at the time and Matt said that he would actually check my blog to make sure I included this story, so there it is.

DOWNER OF THE WEEKEND: UK lost to U Conn, but we put up a good fight.

Maybe I should have titled this entry "Longest Blog Entry Ever."

Drinkin and Skatin

The last couple of days have been quite interesting. To start off, yesterday I met Brett after work for a few drinks. Well, a few drinks turned into 5 hours and needless to say I felt like crap today at work. I know Phil and Jana have both talked about this in their blogs, but I can not believe how painful hangovers have become. Just a few years ago, going out on weeknights was a normal way of life. Now, well, I must be getting old.

I might not have been up to par today, but that didn't stop me from going roller skating tonight. Yep, that's right, I had a lovely evening at the Richmond Skate Center. Melissa (a friend from work) takes her kids there. Tonight Bonnie (another friend from work), Adam (Bonnie's friend), Rodney (Melissa's brother), and I joined in on the fun.

I make a stupid face as Rodney holds on for dear life.

Bonnie and Adam try to pose as professionals. This is the best they could come up with.

HELP!

Couple Skate

Skating, as well as drinking on weeknights, has become more difficult with age. It has been many years since I put on a pair of skates and I don't remember it being so hard. In the beginning I was very slow and hesitant, but it didn't take long for me to catch my stride. Unfortunately, I became overly confident and busted my ass one time as I tried to dance and skate at the same time. Although I'm pretty sure my bum is completely bruised, I think roller skating could be a great part-time hobby.

Roll Over!

I am very proud to announce that Dixie has finally mastered the "roll over" command. Jon and I have been working on this for months. Let me tell ya, this dog is a stubborn bitch. She only does what she wants to do, when she wants to do it. I wonder where she learned that? Anyhow, when I got home from work today Jon said he had something to show me. Here it is.

Lay down....

Roll over....

Good Girl!!!

It turns out that you can teach old dogs new tricks. (Insert joke about Jon here)

Congrats!

I would like to take this opportunity to give a shout out to my brother, Duane Moles. He was recently accepted to the University of California Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. Just as a hint of how cool this is, they only accept 55 applicants each year. Congratulations Duane!

My brother is a journalism grad student. I think I smell a guest blogger. That is, if he is still speaking to me after I posted these photos.

I Just Wanna Dance!

Every once in a while I get the urge to have a few drinks and go dancing. Usually when the mood hits I am joined by Teran and Brett for an evening of rump shakin. This weekend we were pleasantly joined by Jon (Gasp) and Branannah. Yes that's right, there was a rare appearance by the notorious Branannah.
Savannah and Brandon make their grand entrance.

Teran and I take a break from shaking our humps and our lovely lady lumps.

Brett breaks it down.

Overall it was a very fun night. Jon and Branannah never made it to the dancefloor, but luckily for them there was no lack of entertainment. Bad dancers, crazy bitches, and little people were all out in full force for their viewing pleasure. To top it all off, Brett and Teran performed a little "Grease" number which is officially my favorite moment of the night.
